Today I've been thinking about cliques....yeah cliques. Everyone fits into a specific clique...whether it be jock, preppy, geek, music nerd, religious fanatic, etc...everyone fits into a specific clique.
I don't know about you, but I -hate- the fact that there are cliques. I do my best to challenge myself to not fit into a specific clique because I don't want to be labeled by people.....
What's really sad is that there are "Christian Cliques"....believe it or not...it's totally true. I look around and I see people who only associate themselves with their own specific "christian clique". There are those who like to get together and play music and call it "worship", there are those who are part of a christian organization and if people are not apart of that organization then they have nothing to do with them, there are those who talk the talk but do NOT walk the walk (aka go to church on sunday and booze it up during the week), etc etc...the list could go on and on.
Have we forgotten our roots?? Why do Christians, of all people, have their own cliques?! This is ridiculous and I personally believe that we need to stop being blinded by it.
God's Word even speaks against cliques in 1 Corinthians 1:10, "I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment" There ya have it! Plain and simple..."no divisions".
We need to stop thinking that we are holier than other people...when in fact we aren't. Yes we have Jesus, yes we have salvation and yes we have faith in the only true God....but our responsibility is to share that with others....even amongst ourselves. God made us to be relational people....
My point is simply this....cliques are bad, but Christian Cliques are worse....let's wake up, mature a little bit and be more Christ minded when it comes to people....get out of your comfort zone!
